I am finally going to sit down and share my journey. I have had many opportunities to share in churches what God did and has done on this journey. This is for all my amazing supporters whom without I would not have experienced what I did.
We left on March 29th. This was the first time at flying such a distance. I am a plane fanatic so for me anytime I could look out the window was good. I enjoyed all the flights except for the one coming into Kathmandu, Nepal. You fly over Mt.Everest so the turbulence is aweful. I never got sick but I felt like I couldn't breath. When we landed it was hot with 100% humidity and no airflow. I am the type of person that needs airflow, so needless to say it was alot to take in. By the time we got through the airport and loaded I was shot. Driving through the streets of Kathmandu was an eyeopener. It was loaded with people, 1 million in a 20 sq. mile radius to be exact, and filled with garbage. I was a tad bit overwhelmed.
We stayed in a guesthouse that was run by the people that were helping us in setting up ministry in that area. We were very well taken care of.
Our next morning we were already sent out on the streets in teams to find our way around. We had a scavenger hunt, where we had to find certain things and take a picture of them. One was to go to another village by some form of transportation and meet one of the staff at a shop. On our way there we were stopped by the police and told to get off because the driver wasn't of age. By that time we had had enough and just wanted to head back. We were the first ones back and definitely not the winners. Oh well!
My devotional that morning read, Be Still and Know That I am God. Spend time with Almighty God. It is the only way to reach the depth needed to find calm in the midst of any storm. Out on the streets felt like a storm so knowing God made all the difference. There was so many times I would read my devotionals and they would apply to my situation. I love how God does that.
Our next day was going to church. I didn't understand a word they said but there is something about worshipping the same God that makes you one. Just listening and watching them worship was beautiful. I had the honor of singing for them. I sang Amazing Grace.
One of the ladies came up to me afterwards and asked if I was from Nepal. I had said no. She said you could easily fit in with your dark skin, eyes and hair. I took that as a compliment because the people there are beautiful.
After church we headed to a Buddha temple, where I prayed for the people and wrote in my journal. As I prayed for them the song that kept coming to me was Hear from Heaven and forgive my wicked ways, Hear form Heaven and heal our land today. I just kept praying healing over them. It was amazing to me to look at these people and automatically have a love for them. I know it was God's heart.
This was probably the first time in my life that I washed clothes by hand and also had cold sponge baths. To be honest I was thankful just to get a bath and have water.
We got ourselves packed up to head to our next destination, Godavri.
This was by far my most favorable location. For a country girl it felt like home. They grow wheat, corn and potatoes. They labor by hand, not once did I see a John Deere tractor.
